Welcome to Peyton's Place Animal Rescue...

Rescue. Advocate. Educate.

Mission Statement

Peyton’s Place Animal Rescue is dedicated to rescuing small domesticated animals that come from a variety of situations, be it a kill shelter, partner rescue group or an individual that can no longer care for their pet. We are committed to ensure animals that come into our group are fully vetted and have clean bills of health before finding them the best possible home.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) non profit. We do not take salaries. Every dollar goes to the animals.

How you can help:

Screening Applications: We need volunteers that can call references for applications we receive of both potential fosters and adopters. This entails calling references, landlords, checking social media sites and setting up home visits. This can be done right from the comfort of your home!

Home Visits: Home visits are are crucial part of the adoption process. We will not allow an animal to be adopted without a home visit and we do not accept photos of someone’s home in lieu of a home visit. A home visit typically takes 15-30 minutes. There is a standard form to be followed while at the home to ensure the pet is going to a home suitable for its needs. We want to make sure that this adoption is a perfect fit for the family and the animal. Whenever possible, we prefer the animal to attend the home visit. When an older animal, it is imperative that the animal be there during the visit. For younger dogs and puppies, it is not required.

Adoption events: We will be hosting adoption events when we start picking up and will need people there for a couple of hours to take applications and talk to people about our animals. Having a positive presence in the community and at the events is crucial to the success of our rescue and the animals that need us.

Fostering: Fosters are critical to the success of PPAR and the well being of the animals we serve. Each animal that goes into foster opens kennel space for another animal in need, and is often times literally the difference between life and death for that animal. All you need to foster is the ability to offer a stable environment to an animal as it waits for its forever home. Sometimes a foster will be with you for a week or two; sometimes the placement process takes a few months. While fostering might seem daunting at first, it’s important to understand that you are never in it alone. Foster coordinators work to find the dog or cat that best matches your home. We offer ongoing support to all of our fosters and we have someone available 24/7 for emergencies. Along with food and veterinary care, helpful items like crates and toys are supplied. Fosters will be asked to bring their foster to adoption events at least 2 times per month.

Perhaps the most often-asked question about fostering is, “How do you say goodbye to your foster when it’s time?” While some fosters realize that their home is the right match for the animal they are fostering, most discover that the greatest joy comes when their charge finds its forever family. When your foster animal leaves to go to its forever home its always a bittersweet event. But knowing that successful fostering saves the lives of multiple animals and helps complete families makes saying goodbye much more“sweet” than “bitter”.

Please click the “become a foster” tab and complete the application to begin your fostering journey with us!

In Need of Fosters

ATTN: We received a plea to take this 8 year old hound! He is super gentle & low energy & very friendly. His name is George! He is great with other dogs. He needs to put on a few pounds. Comes vetted with rabies and heart worm and vaccines. If you have EVER thought about fostering an older dog, George would be the perfect guy to be your “first” and he is in need. And seriously, he is a hound – they are the best!

PLEASE share and share and apply to foster asap! Time is limited for transport for George!

Look at this face 🙁

This may just seem like a normal sleeping dog pic🐶 to most people but to me it is hope. Its progress, it's the amazing will to live! Just yesterday, our Winnie girl could not sleep like this. Since I got her she has slept and laid down with her neck stretched out. The jerking muscular movements were preventing her from from finding a comfortable position and she would usually just end up resting how she landed when she got exhausted enough. Today is the 1st time I looked at her and thought...🙏FINALLY! She finally looks like she has found some relief and is able to curl up like any normal pup and I wanted to share it with you all.

She may be running out of time though. We just dont know what every hour, every day will bring. So please continue to share her link so we can raise enough money to bring her to the neurologist. I just hope it's not too late 😢

This is Winnie. She so desperately wants to be like all the other pups.

She was once a happy and normal pup who loved to romp around, play dress up and run around. Sadly, at 6 months old, she cant do that anymore. She is suffering from neurological issues and despite being to 3 different vets, they have been unable to identify the cause or find a treatment that helps her. She is unable to walk, has tremors 24/7 and is at risk for other issues due to her condition.

What started as a skin allergy, so we thought, turned into painful/itchy blisters and patches of skin. Winnie was given an ivomec injection, which we suspect she may have a sensitivity to. She was also given antibiotics and prednisone. A few days later, she started the tremors and went to a new foster and new vet. She was taken off the meds and given gabapentin which seemed to help some. At this point she was walking on the leash and functioning on her own with little help.

Fast forward 2 weeks, winnie developed an abscess on her leg that ruptured and set her back sooooo much. She was started on antibiotics and they seemed to be helping until one day she woke up with a puss filled wound and lethargic. It was just too much for her little body to fight. She became dehydrated, had issues pooping and was unable to walk with the open wound. We were very scared for the prognosis. We brought her to another vet who gave her fluids, irrigated the wound and sent her home with 3 meds.

Today, she is doing amazingly well considering. She is not dehydrated, the infection is gone and wound healing and she has a drive to keep going. She uses the pee pad and eats like a savage. She has suffered a major set back due to this infection but her determination to live and love of life is obvious. We have seemed to have won the battle with the skin issues for now, the ruptured abscess and now we are fighting to get her the help she needs. She needs to see a neurologist. We believe this is the only way to properly diagnose the neurological issues and give her the chance she so desperately deserves. Please help us get her there! We can not do this without the help of the community as we anticipate this to be very expensive. Link to the donation page in comments.
